he NEW Stuart Major 10H is a super sized version or our 10H engine.
The Stuart Major 10H is a larger engine (roughly 5x scale) of our popular 10H engine.
It is supplied as a set of castings and drawings.
This kit is special order only, and can be supplied in either Cast iron and Gunmetal or Aluminium and Gunmetal, if purely a stationary engine is required.

Following on from Stuart’s introduction of the super 50 engine which is an enlarged version of the S 50 they have created this super size version of the 10 H, one of Stewarts smallest engines. I don’t know about calling this the Major 10H I think they should have called this MAXIMUS 10 H. The design is basically the 10 H scaled up 5X giving a massive 4 inch bore, 3 1/2 inch stroke and an enormous 14 1/2 inch flywheel. It seems unlikely to me that the average home engineer has access to enough steam to run this engine. Running this engine off a large compressor seems more likely. Some engineers might prefer to build this engine as a static display model to this end the main castings are also available in aluminium reducing weight and simplifying machining. The engine castings are available only by special order probably due to limited demands.
The engine looks very nice and will obviously dominate any display. Some modifications to the design have been made to accommodate the increased size, for example the valve Rod gland has been improved. One thing they have changed is the use of six fixings for the valve chest cover, to me this looks better than the Major 10V that only uses four..
Stuart have also released a MAXIMUS version of the 10 V engine. Check out the comparison photo below that indicates just how large these engines are.
Due to the newness of this release the only details i have been able to find are from Stuarts website.
