As well as steam engines, designed to power other machines Stuart also produced a number of machines designed to perform an act of work. Some of these were designed as working models and others to perform usable work in the home or workshop. It is important to remember that a great many of stuarts steam engines were used to perform functions such as generating electricity for homes without mains power, or pump water.
